Description

It’s black, it’s shiny, and it’s full of holes. Oh, the horror! When it comes to 3D scanning, there isn’t anything more frightening than an object of this description. Or at least, that’s how it used to be.

All that began to change very recently with the arrival of Artec 3D’s AI-powered HD mode, which you can select in Artec Studio 15. One key feature of HD mode is its noise suppression. With noise levels at an absolute minimum, holes become that much easier to scan, as can be seen here. Lots of holes, and every last one of them visible, clearly captured, and in high quality.

Another feature that led to the success of this scan is the capturing of fine lines and sharp edges – in this radiator grille, there are many. With Artec Leo, any object is easier than ever to scan, given its onboard display and wireless maneuverability. Add HD mode to that for processing, and you’re guaranteed clean, sharp data, with fine edges captured in high definition, and smaller, finer elements captured with minimal noise. Scans are also reconstructed with every detail taken into account, leaving you with a final 3D model as close as can be to its original shape.

Take this 3D model for a spin, zooming in and out, and have a look at everything, from its fine form, its precision, attention to every detail, and perhaps most of all, the fact that if you were so inspired, you could literally count how many holes there are.
