Description

A fish can be a very tricky object to scan, since its body geometry changes when you flip it over to scan the other side, unless it’s frozen (and in this case it wasn’t). The solution around this was simple: to just hang it on a thread and let it rotate around by itself, so you don’t need to move the scanner; the fish does all the work for you. Scanning took just under 20 seconds. The scales of a fish can often be a problem even for professional 3D scanners, because of their reflective and sometimes iridescent nature. But Eva captured this fish’s skin with flying colors. From start to finish, including all scanning and post-processing, everything was done in under 2 minutes.
