Description

A quick scan of the bones of the hand, together with fingernails, made with Artec Space Spider. The object was scanned in only three passes: first covering the palm of the hand, then the back of the hand, and finally, for good measure, a scan of both sides with the hand held in a vertical position.

A close examination of the 3D model reveals the condition of the carpals, metacarpals, as well as the phalanges (finger bones). The small bones of the hand have fused together over time.

This highly accurate color 3D model is suitable for both forensics and forensic anthropology purposes, allowing researchers in-depth views of the crucial characteristics of bones, particularly in regards to the effects of decomposition and soil conditions.
